Ways to Give

We see it all around us. Thousands of people are living on the margins – facing homelessness, hunger, abuse, and countless other challenges. Have you ever wondered how you could really make a difference?

Make a world of difference.

When you donate to JVC Northwest, you transform lives. Your gift is magnified through the hands of our Jesuit Volunteers (JVs), reaching thousands of individuals who need it most. As a contributor, you support positive change for vulnerable children and adults—right here in the Northwest.

How it works.

Jesuit Volunteers are Catalysts for Change
JVs spend a year in service to those living on the margins of society. They serve people experiencing homelessness, adults with mental disabilities, at-risk youth, those fleeing domestic violence, and so many others. Through their service, JVs offer renewed hope and dignity to those who are suffering, help address structurally-entrenched injustice, and promote ecological sustainability. Every day, JVs help change lives.

“They have helped me understand the importance of living without violence for me and my children, now and in the future.”
– Client from partner agency Proyecto UNICA

JVs are Transformed by Service
A year as a JV is truly transformational. Through their experiences, JVs become thoughtful leaders and positive role models to others. They end their service year not only dedicated to achieving social and ecological justice, but also prepared to confront and overcome the challenges they face in doing so.

“I will never be the same person I was before I stepped foot in Montana, I am stronger, more courageous, more hopeful, and more faith-filled than I was before I began my journey as a Jesuit Volunteer.”
– Erin Besperat (Billings, Montana 2006-2007)

More Ways to Give

There are many ways to support Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest. Please consider a gift to JVC Northwest in one of the following ways:

Become a sustaining donor

Want to multiply the impact of your donation to JVC Northwest? Become a sustaining donor by setting up a recurring gift. This gift is automatically charged to your credit card or debited from your checking or savings account on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis on a date of your choice. A monthly donation of $10 becomes $120, $50 becomes $600, or $100 becomes $1,200 – all in the course of one year!

Companion Circle of Friends

The Companion Circle of Friends is a group of dedicated donors who significantly support the work of JVC Northwest.

Companions assist JVC Northwest in fulfilling its fourfold mission of spirituality, social and ecological justice, community and simple living by making annual gifts of $1,000 or more.

Stock Donation

A donation of appreciated stock is a great way to support JVC Northwest and may provide significant tax savings for you. Please consult your tax professional to determine if this is a good option for you.

If you’d like to give in this way, please contact David Holcomb, our Business Manager, at (503) 335-8202 or dholcomb@jvcnorthwest.org.

If you are donating stock held in certificate form, please contact David for additional procedures.

Planned Giving

You can strengthen the future of JVC Northwest through a planned gift. Some ways in which you can leave a legacy include making a bequest in your will or naming us as a beneficiary in your 401k, IRA or life insurance policy. Click here for sample language to include in your will.

Please notify Anne Douglas, our Director of Advancement, at (503) 335-8202 or adouglas@jvcnorthwest.org, if you are considering a planned gift or if you have already made a provision for JVC Northwest so we can properly thank you and note the gift in our records for future planning. Our tax ID (EIN) is 23-7361814.

Sponsor a JVC Northwest Event

Sponsoring a JVC Northwest Event is a great opportunity to support our work and gain valuable recognition for your business or group.  Our major fundraising event occurs annually in Seattle, Wash. Contact Anne Douglas, our Director of Advancement, at (503) 335-8202 or adouglas@jvcnorthwest.org for more information about the benefits of sponsorship.

In-Kind Donations

JVC Northwest can reuse your old, still-functional items that are cluttering your house, yard and garage. We also accept new items. You receive a tax deduction and we keep things out of the landfill that still have some life left in them. Each August, we have new communities of Jesuit Volunteers moving into their houses in which we sometimes need to replace worn out or broken appliances, dishes, linens, towels, furniture and so on.  If you do have an item that you would like to donate to your local JV community, please contact the JVC Northwest office at 503-335-8202 or info@jvcnorthwest.org.  Please note that all donations need to be delivered to the JV community because there is usually not a method for transporting items otherwise.

Workplace Giving

Workplace Campaigns

Many companies have workplace campaigns each year allowing and encouraging you to donate to a non-profit of your choice through regular payroll deductions. The United Way may have a campaign at your company that will allow you to designate JVC Northwest as the recipient of your gift. Simply write in Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest along with our address, P.O. Box 22125, Portland, OR 97269.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Your company may also provide corporate matching gifts, which double the impact of your gift to JVC Northwest. Some companies also make contributions based on volunteer hours you provide for JVC Northwest. If you’re unsure of your company’s policy, please ask if this is an option for you. You may need to send a form to us with your donation that we will complete and return to your employer.

Please mail your donation and Matching Gift Form to:
