Carrie Courtney, AmeriCorps Program Assistant
Carrie hails from the great Midwestern state of Iowa, and studied environmental science, media studies, and communication studies at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. While attending college, Carrie actively participated in campus volunteer activities and spring break service trips. She always wanted to participate in AmeriCorps and venture outside of the Midwest, so after graduation, she moved out to Oregon and became a Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) AmeriCorps member for two years. Her work focused on food systems development and environmental education and outreach in rural Oregon communities. She enjoyed her AmeriCorps experience so much, she decided to make a career out of it by joining JVC Northwest. Carrie’s interests include traveling, running, hiking, attempting to surf, and reading. Carrie is very excited to be a part of the JVC Northwest family and assist in all things AmeriCorps.
