New Executive Director Announcement

Man standingOn behalf of the Board of Directors of Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) Northwest, I am excited to announce the selection of Greg Carpinello as our new Executive Director. After a months-long search, the board chose Greg from a number of qualified candidates from around the country and internationally. He will begin on December 4.

Greg is an experienced leader for faith and justice in the Jesuit network. His career and worldview have been transformed by Jesuit institutions over the past 20+ years. With an MA in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College, Greg’s work has revolved around team-building, interfaith cooperation, and organizing for social change.

Greg comes to JVC Northwest from the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice at Xavier University in Cincinnati, where he is Senior Director. His wonderful charisma, extensive leadership experience, foundation in Jesuit spirituality, and his passion for JVC Northwest’s mission make him a great fit to lead the next chapter of our organization.

As Senior Director, Greg and his team renewed the traditional college-aged offerings like retreats, immersions, and community service events through a commitment to diversity and inclusion, while helping students deepen their sense of spirituality and solidarity with others. Greg envisioned and completed a four-year strategic plan for the Center that saw increased fundraising revenues and increased student participation in programming. He also planned and executed new strategies for alumni engagement, experience that will serve him well in his new role.

Greg and his wife, Maura, have three sons, ages 7, 5, and 1. Maura founded and directed Vincentian Volunteers of Cincinnati, another year-long, faith-based service program for young adults. Maura is a skier and avid gardener. And Greg is an amateur woodworker and marathoner. They are eager to join the JVC Northwest and Portland communities and explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

The Board and senior staff will be working together and with Greg to make the transition to new leadership seamless and successful. Join me and the entire Board as we enthusiastically welcome Greg as the new Executive Director of JVC Northwest.

Sincerely,

Kevin Grainey
