Maisie Rosenheimer, AmeriCorps Assistant
I’m a born and raised cheese-head from a teensy town in Southeast Wisconsin. After 18 years of enduring Midwestern winters, I just couldn’t get enough – so I packed my bags and headed east for undergrad. While attending St. Lawrence University, I studied and lived in Kenya for six months, where I found my love for exploring and learning about global development and public health. After graduating with a degree in Sociology and African Studies, I decided to check out the other side of the country and swap out snowflakes for raindrops. I moved to Portland and worked for Kiva – a microfinance nonprofit – as a Program and Operations intern. From there, I found myself at JVC Northwest as the AmeriCorps Program Assistant. Working at JVC Northwest thus far has allowed me to further my education and experience with local development, something near and dear to my heart. Advocating for social and ecological justice has, and continues to be, one of my greatest passions. That’s one of the (many) reasons why I’m beyond excited to be a part of an organization that shares such strong core values and beliefs.
Outside of work, I’m the happiest version of myself when I’m spending time with my family, friends or animals of any kind, drinking a cup of scalding hot tea, being by lakes or oceans, doing anything active in fresh air, cheering on the Packers, travelling, and eating cheese and crackers.
