One of the biggest drawing points that led to me applying for KYUK is how everyday, working at KYUK is a choose your own adventure. In these past few months, that sentiment has proven to be true, with me taking on projects such as editing the upcoming “Wellness Wednesday” episodes, filming local track races, filming promotional videos for the local swimming pool, and even creating my own news stories. Through all this, I’ve felt incredible professional fulfillment in being affirmed that working in media is something that I want to do in the future.
I always feel very proud of the work I made and hearing my voice on the radio, with one person even calling in to say they enjoyed hearing my voice again. I’ve also had a lot of learning curves on learning how to adapt fuzzy audio that I recorded or accidentally deleting original portions of audio. Yet, these have been the moments where I have learned the most on programs that I’ve used previously, as well as getting a more accurate insight on what I need to consider to create publication-worthy news content. I’ve learned so much from my time here so far and with K300 right around the corner, I’m looking forward to what lessons I have to learn going forward!
