I joined JVC Northwest in the summer of 2016 and am grateful to once again have the opportunity for meaningful work. Prior to this, I served for 10+ years as the senior leader of JustWork Economic Initiative (a nonprofit social enterprise in Vancouver, BC), 5+ years as a data analyst at Self-Help Credit Union & Ventures Fund in North Carolina, and 10+ years as a campus minister working with students at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sarah, my spouse, and our children—Peter, Lucy, and Clara—live in Milwaukie.
For most of my life I have been around businesses: working in them, studying them, consulting for them, directing them. Likewise, for most of my life I have been enveloped in the Christian story. With this combination, it has always been intriguing to consider how businesses can promote social justice, rather than simply being known as promoters of social injustice. At JVC Northwest, I have the opportunity to help our business practices lean towards goodness. Likewise, I look for ways to dialogue with others in the community about these same ideas and goals.
