Denise Warner, Property Management Coordinator (she/her)
I was born in Oregon, and outside of a couple of side quests to California and Arizona it has been my home. I have spent most of my adult life in Portland and have witnessed the many phases it has gone through over the years. I have always held a keen interest in the effects of gentrification on cities and have certainly witnessed its impact on my home city, and its people.
This has informed my work in housing/property management, which has run the gamut—from houses, SRO’s, housing for vulnerable populations, and conventional multifamily housing. My passion for housing justice has risen in tandem with the rise in economic disparities and wealth concentration which have affected individuals, families, communities, and cities.
I am so pleased to have found a place within JV Northwest where I may apply my learned and lived experiences in a way which aligns with my values.
Some of my other passions include gardening, particularly heirloom plants, fermenting vegetables, and making water kefir. In the warmer months I relax and recharge on Sauvie Island, and in the cooler months I gain peace and balance in the salty waters of a flotation tank.
