Sarah Jones, Director of the JV Program (she/her, they/them)
My roots are planted in the fast-paced and fast-talking East Coast and my branches are slowly stretching in the Pacific Northwest. I was first drawn to JVC Northwest after graduate school, serving as a JV in Bethel, Alaska at Bethel Alternative Boarding School (BABS). After a year on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, I traded salmon from the Kuskokwim River for cheese steaks and returned to Philadelphia to work at my alma mater, Saint Joseph’s University. After many years with the Hawks, I returned to my other “alma mater”- JVC Northwest in the Summer of 2015. As our Alumni Coordinator, I spent lots of time sipping coffee and sharing potluck dishes with FJVs who shared how they were “ruined for life” in church basements, living rooms, and coffee shops across the country. In my current role as Director of the JV Program, I support our JV Program team and our current Jesuit Volunteers across the Northwest and try to attend as many JV Retreats as possible.
I am known as “Coach” to the volleyball team of St. Andrew Nativity School and “Cool Aunt Sarah” to my four niblings. I enjoy earning frequent flyer miles with my spouse, embracing an intentional sniff walk with my pup, keeping up with my overly ambitious library holds, experimenting and fermenting in the kitchen, hitting PRs through power lifting, and curating the perfect mix CD (or Spotify playlist) for friends and family.
