Sarah Thompson, Development Assistant (she/her)
I’m originally from Southern California but made my home in the Northwest in the early 1990s after earning a Master’s degree in Theater Education from the University of New Mexico. The youngest of four, I grew up watching, then participating in, lively discussions around the dinner table. I love that at JVC Northwest we create community by sharing meals, conversation, and learning as a regular part of our work week. My career history includes work in business development for a high tech firm, event management for a small local non-profit, and development for a Catholic school. The largest chunk of my work life has been spent working as a volunteer and stay-at-home mom to my daughter and son. During that time I enjoyed volunteering for schools, theaters, non-profit radio stations, and my faith community. My family and I were blessed with the chance to move to Ireland for two years in 2013 and 2014. We traveled and connected with our neighbors in our temporary home country.
As an added bonus, I’ve been able to act as the on-air host of KUIK AM1360’s live broadcast of the Oregon International Airshow for 11 years, a unique job that has provided me with opportunities to ride with airshow performers and conduct interviews with performers, patrons, and community leaders. At present, I live in Portland, Oregon with my daughter, son, husband, and dog.
